SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Police say a piece of concrete fell from the Interstate 189 overpass onto Farrell Street in South Burlington and hit a car on the street below.
Police say it wasn't a big chunk and the driver is OK. There was only minor damage to the car, but it gave the driver of the car quite a scare.
Farrell Street was closed Friday morning as crews inspected the overpass and worked to correct the problem. The road reopened at about noon.
VTrans says they're not worried about other bridges in the area.
"It's the same as the potholes, the rain gets in the cracks in the bridge and freezes, expands and the concrete will just push away from the abutment," said Dan Shepard of VTrans.
