Police: Trooper fired at armed man in Hartford

HARTFORD, Vt. (WCAX) Police say a Quechee man has been treated for minor injuries following a shooting involving a state trooper in Hartford Sunday night.

Authorities say it happened around 7:30 p.m. after officers were called to a reported domestic assault with shots fired on Quechee West Hartford Road.

Police say they found James Luce, 19, walking along the road near a home with a shotgun. Police say he refused to comply with commands and a state trooper fired at the suspect one time with a shotgun. He then allegedly continued to refuse to comply and was tased. He was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.

The trooper involved is on paid administrative leave and the Vermont Attorney General's Office is now investigating.

Luce was charged with aggravated domestic assault, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest. He was due in court Monday.
