Police warn of sex offender set to be released from prison

James Crawford

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Police in Burlington are warning the public about a sex offender who is about to get out of prison.

James Crawford, 39, served time for several cases of lewd and lascivious conduct with children.

Crawford did not complete sex offender treatment while in prison and the Vermont Department of Corrections says there is a high risk he will reoffend. Crawford is set to be released from prison Saturday and he is expected to live in Burlington when he gets out. He will be listed on the Vermont Sex Offender Registry.

The Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations says all Crawford's victims were girls between the ages of 10 and 15 and all of them were acquaintances.
