HYDE PARK, Vt. (WCAX) We now know what caused a power outage in parts of Lamoille County Monday night.
Hardwick Electric tells us the cold temperatures were to blame. They say so many people were running heaters that the circuits were overloaded.
They say they have fixed the problem now and future cold snaps like this should not cause this issue again.
The power went out Monday night in Wolcott, parts of Elmore and Hardwick, and on Garfield Road in Hyde Park. It was back on after a few hours and the temporary emergency shelters that opened have closed.
