Progress in the fight against prostate cancer

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Prostate cancer is one of the most dangerous cancers men may have to deal with in their lives, but there is some research that says fewer people are losing their lives from this illness over the past couple decades.

According to the National Cancer Institute, the percentage of men dying has dropped from 39.2 percent in 1992 to just below 19 percent in 2015. Currently, in 2018, that percentage is down to approximately 17.8 percent.

September is prostate cancer awareness month and Roger Garrity spoke with Dr. Mark Plante, chief of urology at the UVM Medical Center, about the progress being made to save lives.
