Public water systems testing to be complete Sunday

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Testing is supposed to be completed on Sunday of all 700 public water systems in Vermont.

Last session, Vermont lawmakers mandated that all public water systems get tested for PFAs, chemicals that in high levels can cause health issues. The deadline to do that is today, December 1.

Lawmakers also called for surface water standards for PFAs and said the state had to develop a plan to get a sense of other contamination across the state.
