Repairs underway on Colchester Causeway
Work has started on repairs to the Colchester Causeway.
We visited the South Hero side of the Causeway Wednesday and saw spots where the bike path looked like it had been filled in.
But the sign at the ferry warns riders it's still closed. Local Motion tells WCAX News their ferry will start running again when the Causeway reopens.
Seb Scialabba owns Seb's Snack Bar. He told us while bicyclists aren't a large part of his business revenue, he'll be glad to see the path back open.
"A lot of people enjoy that ride, to make it a longer ride and to see more scenery. It's almost like a dead end if you don't have the bike path. So I think it will be great for these people to have it back open again," Scialabba said.
The damages from the May storm to the Causeway are expected to cost more than half a million dollars to fix. But Local Motion says VTrans is already working on it and they expect it to be back open in early July.
Local Motion says there were more than 16,000 rides on the bike ferry last year.
