The U.S. economy has been growing for much of 2018 but is Vermont missing out?

A new report from the president's Council of Economic Advisers shows Vermont is dead last among the states in terms of job growth in the past year.

Nevada leads the nation with a 3.4 percent increase in payroll employment in the past 12 months.

New Hampshire is 11th at 2.3 percent.

New York is below the national average but still had a 1.3 percent increase in jobs.

Vermont was in 50th place and the only state in negative territory with a 0.9 percent drop in payroll employment.

While we may not be seeing our workforce expand, we're also not seeing a lot of job losses. Vermont's unemployment rate remains the fifth lowest in the country at 2.8 percent.
