A fire broke out on the rooftop of Hotel Vermont Tuesday night in Burlington.

The fire started around 8:30 p.m., as fire crews raced to the hotel to evacuate people inside and battle the flames. It took crews less than a half-hour to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters say no one was hurt. Investigators believe the fire started in the ductwork of a first-floor restaurant that led to the roof.

Police blocked off streets and rerouted drivers.

Guests were allowed back inside at about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
