Samsung TV Instructions

The instructions below cover many, but not all, variations of Samsung TV.

Before you start, be sure to use the correct remote. In this case, the key buttons to look for on the remote are the “Menu” or “Settings” button, the directional arrows (up, down, left, right) and the “Enter” button, which is usually in the middle of the directional buttons, and often appears without a word, but instead as a symbol similar to a rectangle with an arrow pointing to the left inside of it. You will use these buttons as needed to navigate to and then select different options on screen. In general, use the “Enter” button to select each option.

1. Select "Menu" on your remote

2. Choose the "Channel" or "Broadcasting" menu. (The exact menu name will differ based on your model)

3. Select "Auto Program"

4. If you're prompted whether to scan for "Air" or "Cable," select "Air." (Some TVs may not ask, and will scan for both automatically)

Be patient during the scan, which could take up to three minutes. When the scan is complete, you should see your channels.

Samsung Smart TVs - 2017 models and newer (Includes OLED, Q series, Quantum Dot TVs and 4K TVs)

Before you start, be sure to use the correct remote. In this case, the remote control itself may be minimalist, with relatively few buttons, because it is designed to operate in concert with the onscreen menus. The key buttons to look for on the remote are the “Home” button (appears as the symbol of a house), the directional wheel (up, down, left, right directions are chosen by pressing in each direction on the rubber circle in the middle of the remote) and the “Enter” button, which is unmarked in the middle of the directional wheel. You will use these buttons as needed to navigate to and then select different options on screen. In general, use the “Enter” button to select each option.

1. Select "Home" on your remote. (Button looks like a small house)

2. Choose the "Settings" menu. (Appears as a gear icon at the bottom left of the menu)

3. Choose "Broadcasting" in the Settings menu, then "Auto Tuning"

4. You should get a prompt to "Press Start to search for and save channels," as well as a warning that the search will erase your current channel list. Click "Start;” this scan will build and save an all-new list of channels.

5. You may be prompted whether to scan for "Both, Air or Cable." Either "Air" or "Both" will scan for antenna channels.

Be patient during the scan, which could take up to three minutes. When the scan is complete, you should see your channels.
