Sanders says he did all he could to help with 'blue wave'

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders says he gave it his all to try to help Democrats retake the U.S. House and Senate.

The independent gave his victory speech Tuesday night to a cheering crowd. Afterward, he was asked if he could have done more to help the "blue wave" nationally.

"I have done everything I could. I've been in the last two weeks to 13 states and I've been to something like 35 rallies. And I'm doing everything I can to make sure Democrats regain control of the House and, hopefully, the Senate," Sanders said.

The Democrats retook the House but not the Senate.

Sanders also addressed criticisms that he spent too much time on the campaign trail for other candidates and not enough in Vermont. He said focusing on taking back the House and Senate is not turning his back on Vermont because if they did regain control, Vermont's delegation will be in positions of power in various committees.
