Search for suspect who almost hit 911 caller during escape

WESTMORE, Vt. Vermont State Police are searching for a suspicious man accused of ransacking a Westmore home and almost hitting a woman with his car during his get-away.

Police said a woman was walking on Westside Lane around 3 p.m. on Saturday, when she spotted a man at the back of an abandoned home. She told police that, he ran into the woods, and then came back, claiming to be a **different man.

When she threatened to call police, the man sped off in a car and almost hit the woman.

Police say they found the house ransacked.

The woman describes the suspect as a white man with a thin build, blond hair and a thin mustache. He was wearing boots and a dirty blue hoodie.

The man was driving an old gold Buick with the license plan EWA123. Police said he was last seen driving on Cooks Road towards Barton.

Call police if you have seen this man or his Buick.
