MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) If you're a property owner in Vermont, one lawmaker wants you to pay up for water quality projects.
Under Sen. Chris Bray's proposal, you'd pay $1 a month or $12 a year. The Democrat says this fee would raise $4.5 million each year to supplement efforts to clean up the state's water.
Opponents say current revenues for the state's clean water initiative are already sufficient.
Similar proposals have come up in the past but have not advanced.
