Snowshoe racer admits to child endangerment

SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. (WCAX) One of the world's top snowshoers has pleaded guilty to child endangerment.

Tanveer Hussain of India was originally charged with child sex abuse. But under a deal, Hussain pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and the felony charge was dismissed.

Hussain was in Saranac Lake in February for the World Snowshoe Championships. While there, he was accused of kissing and touching a 12-year-old girl. He denied the charges but later admitted to child endangerment.

Wednesday, he was sentenced to time served. Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement took him into custody right after his sentence.
