Soucy elected president of New Hampshire Senate

CONCORD, N.H. (WCAX) New Hampshire's state Senate has a new president.

Sen. Donna Soucy is serving her fourth term in the Senate. She was unanimously elected president of the Democrat-led chamber.

Soucy says she looks forward to laying out her priorities in the months ahead; she calls it the "Granite State opportunity agenda."

"Things like making it easier to find a job. Ensuring that we continue with Medicaid expansion, family medical leave, paid family medical leave for all the families in New Hampshire. Ensuring that we have safe drinking water and for those who have been exposed to carcinogens, that they have access to health covers and that they have continued care," Soucy said.

She says she looks forward to working with Republican Gov. Chris Sununu, and she is confident lawmakers will be able to find common ground on many issues.
