Police: Spaulding High School student threatened school, staffer

BARRE, Vt. (WCAX) Police arrested a Spaulding High School student Friday who they say threatened the school and a staff member.

Barre City Police say Avery Norton, 18, of Barre, called and threatened to shoot a Granite Academy staff member, and he also mentioned Spaulding High School. Granite Academy is associated with the high school.

Investigators met with staff members at both schools. And Norton was arrested Friday afternoon for disorderly conduct and criminal threatening.

Spaulding High School brought all it's high-schoolers indoors as authorities followed up on the threat. Classes continued and the school remained in normal operation.
