Stefanik co-sponsors act to protect newspaper industry

A local congresswoman is putting pen to paper to help the newspaper industry.

North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is co-sponsoring the PRINT Act.

The act would suspend tariffs on paper coming in from Canada-- the main source for newsprint and other paper used by printers.

In a statement, the Republican said, "Local news is a critical part of our North Country community and I am pleased to support this legislation that will keep our local papers competitive."

It would also require the Commerce Department to review the health of the printing and publishing industries.
