The Stoweflake Hot Air Balloon festival is canceled this year.

Organizers say it's with a heavy heart that the 34th annual tradition is a no-go.

In a statement, the Baraw family said: "Our family and the Stoweflake Resort cannot in good conscience bring together thousands of people in a manner that is safe for all. This decision did not come easy as we know it will disappoint the many guests that have reached out to us expressing their desire to attend this year’s festival."

The festival is a big event for Stowe and brings thousands of people to the community's hotels, restaurants and stores.

We're told a handful of balloons will be flown over the town next Friday through Sunday so people can still see some flying the sky.
