Suspect in high-speed chase says he heard voices

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) The man accused of leading police on a high-speed chase through several Vermont towns says he was hearing voices in his head.

Lynwood Whittemore pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of trying to escape police, speeding and negligent driving.

Police say Thursday, Whittemore reached speeds of over 100 mph during a 40-minute chase through Lamoille County before crashing into another car at the Vermont Electric Co-op in Johnson.

Whittemore was held on $10,000 bail.
