First bust for new 'street crime unit'

It was the first police operation spearheaded by the newly formed St. Albans Police, Street Crimes Unit.

Saturday morning the new unit obtained a court ordered search warrant for an apartment on Kingman Street to search for drugs.

At about 7:16 a.m. officers from the St. Albans Police Department executed the search warrant. During that time, officers located and seized 1.25 Lbs. of crack cocaine and $6,000.00 in U.S. currency.

The street value of the seized Crack Cocaine is estimated at between $47,000.00 and $65,000.00.

The following people were in the apartment and arrested:

Lionel D. Edward, age 35 of Bronx, New York was arrested for Felony Possession of Crack Cocaine. He was lodged at the North Western State Correctional Center.

Katelyn Bushey, age 26 of St. Albans was arrested on outstanding Arrest Warrant for Failure to Appear for Suspended Operators License.

Travis S. Bedard, age 34 of Highgate, VT- Arrested on outstanding Arrest Warrant for Retail Theft.
