Timeline for downtown redevelopment project remains unclear

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) Materials for a downtown Burlington, Vermont, redevelopment project have arrived, but it's still unclear when construction will begin.

The Burlington Free Press reports structural steel was delivered Monday to the CityPlace Burlington site. However, developer Don Sinex says he's "still working away on financing and major leasing deal."

The $225 million project has been hampered with delays since its inception, causing clashes between Sinex and city officials.

Sinex had previously said that the majority partner of the project, Brookfield Asset Management, blocked him from submitting documents.

Councilman Dave Hartnett has said Sinex should've disclosed the problems with Brookfield from the beginning.

The redevelopment will include office space, apartments, retail, community space and parking. Sinex had originally planned to open the complex by 2021.
