We have an update on a struggling dog rescue organization in Ferrisburgh.

We told you Tuesday how Heidi's Haven, an animal rescue run out of a Sheila McGregor's home, was getting complaints from neighbors. They say there's nonstop barking from the 32 dogs inside and that the property's condition has led to a rat problem in the neighborhood.

At Tuesday night's select board meeting, the town zoning board recognized Heidi's Haven as a business, so McGregor now has until mid-April to apply for a zoning permit. And the health officer gave her until the end of the month to prove she has fixed the rat problem.
