Castleton University has a new president.

The Vermont State Colleges announced Thursday that trustees voted unanimously for Dr. Karen Scolforo to take over the post in December.

Scolforo comes from a job as president of Central Penn College in Summerdale, Pennsylvania. She will succeed Dave Wolk, who has served as Castleton's president the past 16 years and who recently announced his retirement.

Castleton is the largest of Vermont State Colleges five campus system with an enrollment of about 1,900 full-time students.
