Two top prison officials at the Northern State Correctional Facility have been put on administrative leave.

Department of Corrections Commissioner Mike Touchette says a credible report was made against superintendent Joshua Rutherford and assistant superintendent Scott Martin that warrants further assessment.

There were no other details given on the nature of the report.

The news comes following a recent investigation by Seven Days detailed allegations of drug use and sexual abuse of women prisoners at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in South Burlington by corrections staff.

Greg Hale, the top prison official at the facility in Swanton will temporarily take over in Newport.
