MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue will be visiting the Granite State Friday as part of a three-state RV tour.
The former Georgia governor is planning to make visits to a hydroponic farm in Loudon, host a listening session in Wolfeboro, and swear in the new U.S. Forest Service Chief at a roadside stop along the Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountains.
The so-called Back to Our Roots tour will also make stops in Massachusetts and Connecticut. It's billed as an effort to gather input on the 2018 Farm Bill, as well as meet with farmers, ranchers, foresters, and other stakeholders.
Vermont Ag officials say the secretary's plans to visit Vermont over the weekend were scuttled by the unfolding disaster in Texas.
