UVM gets $1M from Google for open source research
The University of Vermont's Complex Systems Center is receiving one-million dollars from Google.
The unrestricted gift is to support open-source research. Open source is a type of computer software, where source code is released under a license, and the copyright holder grants users the rights to study, change and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose.
Our Cat Viglienzoni spoke with Laurent Hébert-Dufresne, an assistant professor of computer science at UVM, about the Google gift.
