Police determine cause of I-89 tractor trailer rollover

RICHMOND, Vt. (WCAX) Police say the driver of a tractor trailer that rolled over on I-89 north in Richmond Thursday was driving took fast for conditions.

It happened on I-89 north around 7:30 Thursday morning near mile marker 74.

Police say 54-year-old Zila Hurlburt was driving too fast for road conditions and the truck left the road and rolled. Hurlburt was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic was significantly backed up and police were issuing tickets to rubbernecking drivers with cell phones.

"In a situation that's an active motor vehicle crash on the interstate, you're going to have to surpass the crash and not take any photos or videos and continue on to your destination. The photos will be posted as soon as we can," Vermont State Police Sgt. Paul Ravelin said Thursday.

Police say six people were ticketed for being on their cell phones while passing the crash.
