Their season may have been canceled, but the Vermont Mountaineers baseball team is still hard at work in the community.

Members of the New England Collegiate Baseball League's front office and mascot Skip visited the Central Vermont Medical Center Wednesday to make a donation. Workers at CVMC were gifted 2021 game day tickets, autographed baseballs, hats and apparel as well as 10 cases of their Vermont Mountaineers Root Beer.

President and general manager Brian Gallagher knows that despite the season being canceled due to the pandemic, giving back is the best option. "We feel like the community does a lot to support the mountaineers over the last 18 years, from host families, volunteers, sponsors, fan base. So this was an easy decision for our board -- let's just do this, let's give it back to the community. We've given them tickets and souvenirs and things they can give back to the employees. It's a win-win for the mountaineers as well as the essential workers," he said.

The Mountaineers are already looking forward to their 2021 season with a few fans from the Central Vermont Medical Center.
