Vermont VA hospital gets new medical director

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs says a new medical director has been appointed to lead the VA hospital in White River Junction, Vermont.

The appointment of Dr. Brett D. Rusch was announced Saturday.

The White River Junction VA hospital provides care to about 26,000 veterans throughout Vermont and four counties in New Hampshire.

Prior to joining the White River Junction VA Medical Center in 2015, Dr. Rusch served as Director of Inpatient and Intensive Outpatient Mental Health Services at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

The White River VA operates community based outpatient clinics in five Vermont locations and two in New Hampshire.
