The girlfriend of a Vermont man found shot to death by the side of a rural road last month has been accused of illegally possessing guns and transporting ammunition.
The Caledonian-Record reports 27-year-old Krystal Whitcomb was indicted Thursday in U.S. District Court in Burlington on weapons charges. Whitcomb and her father, Shawn, also face drug distribution charges in addition to previous offenses. The Whitcombs have been questioned in the death of Michael Pimental.
Police say Shawn and Krystal Whitcomb were involved in a heroin ring with Pimental. Authorities say the pair brought ammunition purchased in New Hampshire to Vermont days before Pimental was found dead.
Both have pleaded not guilty to heroin charges. They have both petitioned the court to be sent to drug rehabilitation programs.
