Vermont trooper encountered heroin, incident cause inconclusive

WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) We now know more about a trooper who experienced a serious medical event after a traffic stop in March.

After investigation and lab results, the substance Sgt. Brett Flansburg encountered has been identified as heroin.

Because of Flansburg's personal privacy rights, the medical test results must remain confidential.

The ultimate cause of the incident is inconclusive. Police provided no details on how Flansburg made contact with the drug.

Flansburg collapsed following a traffic stop in Leicester and was revived by multiple doses of Narcan.

He has since recovered and returned to duty.
