Vermont trooper faces DUI charge

RUTLAND CITY, Vt. (WCAX) An off-duty Vermont state trooper faces a drunken-driving charge.

Police stopped Tpr. Craig Roland on Deer Street in Rutland City Monday at about 6 a.m.

They say a roadside breathalyzer measured Roland's blood alcohol content at 0.189.

He was arrested and processed for DUI.

Police say Roland was not on duty at the time.

In a statement, Vermont State Police said Roland was put on paid administrative leave, as per protocol, and an internal investigation will be conducted.

State police say Roland, 32, of Whiting, was hired in January 2017.
