COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) Vermont's largest electric utility is preparing to respond to outages caused by high winds that are forecast to hit the state.

Green Mountain Power says that weather forecasts that include gusts of up to 65 miles per hour in some locations from Wednesday afternoon through early Thursday increase the chance that trees could be blown onto power lines.

In response, the utility has positioned line crews around the state to respond to any outages.

Green Mountain is reminding the public to be prepared for possible outages and to not touch downed power lines.
