Biden endorses Hallquist for governor
Former Vice President Joe Biden is endorsing Democratic gubernatorial candidate Christine Hallquist.
In a statement, the fellow Democrat said he is proud to endorse her because he likes her vision for supporting working families across Vermont. He also said that she has demonstrated courage in the face of adversity.
"I'm proud to endorse Christine Hallquist for governor because Christine has a vision for supporting working families across Vermont. Her dedication to improving infrastructure and raising wages gets to the core of America's broken economy. Her campaign for livable wages, affordable health care, and affordable college will make a difference in the everyday lives of Vermonters. She has demonstrated courage in the face of adversity and has shown that she is ready to lead as Vermont's next governor," Biden said.
Hallquist says she's honored and says they both believe the economy works better for everyone when opportunities are created from the bottom up.
"Joe Biden has been an advocate for the downtrodden for as long as he has been in politics. His endorsement is a recognition of the importance of state government in making government work for us all. We both believe the economy works better for everyone when opportunities are created from the bottom up," Hallquist said.
Biden has been on the campaign trail in recent days endorsing Democrats around the country. He is also considered a possible contender for the White House in 2020.
