Virus spurs unemployment benefit expansion in New Hampshire

CONCORD, N.H. (WCAX) New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu has announced three new executive orders in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

One prevents utilities, like gas, electric, cable, telephone and internet companies from shutting off service due to nonpayment during the state of emergency.

Another prevents landlords from giving eviction notices. And the third increases access to unemployment benefits.

"We are taking steps to help Granite Staters, making sure they have the support for themselves, their families and their businesses throughout this crisis," said Sununu, R-New Hampshire.

Anyone filing for unemployment in New Hampshire needs to do so every week. You can do this online or over the phone. Click here for the website or call 603-271-7700.
