BURLINGTON, Vt. For the past 40 years, Prevent Child Abuse Vermont (PCAVT) has worked to keep children and families safe.

The organization held walks in Rutland, Montpelier and Burlington today in an effort to highlight the need for community commitment to child abuse prevention.

Parents, children, community members, even Spiderman and Champ, all walked down Church Street in Burlington to support the cause.

"We want to bring awareness to this issue so that everyone knows as a nurturing, safe, supporting community were all there for the children." said Linda Johnson, Executive Director of PCAVT.

PCAVT helped support healthy relationships for 14,000 children and adults. The organization also recently joined the Vermont Judiciary in launching a pilot program to recruit Guardians ad Litem in Franklin and Grand Isle counties.
