On Monday, June 15th, WCAX completed an upgrade to the transmission system for our Rutland area broadcast site. This change affects anyone who receives our signal with an over-the-air TV antenna in the Rutland area only. Outside of Rutland County, or if you watch TV using cable or satellite, this should not affect you.

During the day Monday, June 15th, crews will make final modifications to a planned upgrade to the Rutland translator. During this work, the translator will have to be powered off, so WCAX will not be available over the air in Rutland County during the day on Monday, June 15th. We expect this work to take a few hours, and then be complete Monday afternoon.

Once the translator work is complete, and the Rutland translator turned back on, viewers in Rutland County will not be able to watch WCAX on the new signal until this simple re‐scan is performed.

If you receive WCAX on cable or satellite, or live outside of Rutland County, you are NOT affected.

Also, this work is at a separate site from the Mt. Mansfield antenna, which is unaffected by this work.

For questions regarding the rescan, we have set up a "Rescan Helpline," to help answer questions or assist viewers in performing the one-time rescan.

Rescan Helpline:

Monday: 3pm - 7pm

How do I rescan my TV?

To perform a re-scan of your television receiver, use your remote control to access your TV’s menu screen. You should be able to find a setting like: “Scan for channels,” or “Channel search.” When you select that and press Enter, your TV will automatically search the airwaves and update your TV’s channel listing. When this is complete, you will once again have access to WCAX, Movies!, Start TV, and ION programming.

For most TVs, performing a re-scan includes these simple steps:

  1. Use your remote to access the MENU system on your television.
  2. While on the TV (or TUNER) input, select the ANTENNA setting (if applicable).
  3. Find the option labeled "Scan for channels," "Channel search," or something similar, and select that with your remote.
  4. Your TV will automatically search the airwaves for all available local channels.

Once this re‐scan is complete, you should be able to access WCAX, Movies!, Start TV, and ION TV programming as usual.

My TV doesn’t have that, what should I do?

You may want to perform a Google search for your specific TV brand or refer to your TV's user manual for a step‐by‐step guide.

How soon will my channels reset?

It varies from TV to TV, but the re-scan should take only a few minutes and your new channels should show up right away.
