Alves Lifts Cats to Bounce-Back Win

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Geo Alves corralled a long ball from Dadi Halldorsson in the box and beat Siena keeper Greg Monroe as UVM emerged with a 1-0 win Tuesday evening at Virtue Field.

Alves' tally was the only goal of the game despite a 21-6 shot advantage for the Cats in their first action since a loss to Colgate on Sunday. That defeat saw Vermont drop out of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 one week after entering it.

UVM will be back in action on Saturday evening as they travel to 19th ranked UMass-Lowell in their America East opener.
