Channel Three Sports has learned that the University of Vermont is conducting an investigation into its women's basketball program.

A source has confirmed to Channel Three that players and members of the coaching staff have been interviewed and that the focus of those interviews is the conduct of head coach Chris Day regarding his verbal interactions with players. The source emphasized the conduct being investigated is not physical in any way, shape or form. The focus is solely on verbal conduct.

Channel Three Sports Director Mike McCune spoke with UVM Director of Athletics Jeff Schulman late this afternoon and Schulman said - "The university is reviewing certain aspects of the women's basketball program, but he was not prepared to discuss anything further at this point."

Coach Day just completed his second season as head coach of the UVM women's team. He went 8-22 this season after going 9-20 in his first season after being hired to replace Lori Gear McBride.
