BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) The Boston Bruins Fan Fest Tour made its annual stop in Burlington Sunday, with games, shopping, and photo opportunities, as well as the chance to meet one of the young stars of the team.
Ryan Donato was a late addition to the Bruins roster last year after he played 29 games for Harvard and led all goal scorers in the Olympics as a member of Team USA. He then went on to tally 9 points in just 12 regular season games and made three playoff appearances.
Donato has clearly had no problem finding the back of the net at any level of hockey. UVM fans got to see that firsthand as he tallied a hat trick against the Cats in his last visit to Gutterson Fieldhouse, that coming less than 8 months ago as a member of the Crimson. He certainly didn't forget that experience in the return trip.
"Yeah, I mean it's weird how hockey kind of always brings you back to places where you've been before and played before and had some memories before," Donato said. "I was lucky enough to come up here and play a tournament with my Harvard team and that was an awesome experience. Obviously towards the end of the year it was a big decision to try to jump to the next level."
Donato was very impressed by the turnout of Bruins fans given the distance between Burlington and Boston.
"That's something that's really special to me," he said. "I'm lucky to have grown up as a Bruins fan and I know how passionate fans are, but I really didn't know how passionate fans are four and a half, five hours away from Boston. It's really cool to see that these passionate fans really do care, and they're all over the world."
