The CVU Boys and Girls Soccer teams swept the D1 crowns at Burlington High School while Milton and Harwood took the titles at South Burlington Saturday. It was a fourth straight for Milton and seventh in eight years for the CVU girls, but the first since 2012 for the CVU boys and first since 2007 for Harwood.
The CVU girls got a second half goal from Catherine Gilwee on a header in their 1-0 win over Colchester to clinch a second straight title. The boys fell behind in the first half, but stormed back to claim a 4-1 win. Jonah Roberts scored the eventual game winner for the Redhawks.
In division two, Milton's girls won their fourth straight title by virtue of a 2-1 overtime win over Rice. A year after defeating the Knights in a shootout in the final, the Jackets claimed this one on a Tatum Shappy free kick that hooked under the bar in sudden death.
The Harwood boys meanwhile ran rampant to a 3-0 victory over Woodstock to claim the title. Charlie Zschau struck twice for the Highlanders, who rebounded from a title game defeat in 2017 with a perfect season in 2018.
