Chardy, Marterer Claim Wins in Stowe Mountain Lodge Quarterfinals

STOWE, Vt. (WCAX) On a picture perfect day at Spruce Peak, Jeremy Chardy and Max Marter claimed quarterfinal wins in the second annual Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic.

In the first match, Marterer took down fellow German Yannick Hanfmann in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Hanfmann took a 3-2 lead and was up a break in the second set before Marter rallied for the victory.

In the nightcap, Chardy of France rallied to defeat American Noah Rubin in a tiebreaker, 6-7, 6-4, 10-7. Chardy finished as runner-up in this event last year.

On Monday, the quarterfinals will continue with Yoshi Nishioka of Japan battling American challenger Denis Kudla and 21st ranked player in the world Berna Coric of Croatia facing another American, Bradley Klahn.
