CASTLETON, Vt. -- Post 91 scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past the Colchester Cannons 3-2 and win the American Legion baseball championship Wednesday at Castleton University.

Trailing 2-0 going into the seventh, Post 91 opened the inning with a walk, but two strikeouts put them an out away from having to play a final deciding game. But Ryder Thornton and Ryan Young hit RBI singles to tie the game at two, then Cory Giannelli lined a single to left to score Grady Cram with the winning run as Post 91 claimed its first Legion title since 2014.

Colchester scored both its runs in the top of the first on four straight singles, with Saul Minaya and Justin Dattilio's hits driving the runs home.

From there it was a pitchers duel between Minaya and Post's Maverick King. Both went the distance. King allowed six hits, striking out nine in the victory. Minaya gave up nine hits, and stuck out four in a losing effort.
