BURLINGTON, Vt. After allowing the visiting Hawks to open the scoring, Vermont netted two unanswered to claim a 2-1 win Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field. With the win, the Cats move to 2-1-0 in America East play.
Hartford's goal came in the 23rd minute when Sergi Martinez stole the ball in the attacking third and bounced one off the post and in. But Vermont's answer came about five minutes later, with Geo Alves chesting down a cross from Justin Freitas in the box and burying his shot to tie the game.
It was then Freitas who tallied the winner in the 87th minute, one touching a long throw-in from Trevor Colazzo off a defender and in for the final 2-1 scoreline.
Vermont is now 8-4 overall and steps back out of conference play on Tuesday when they travel to Yale.
