WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCAX) The UVM men's basketball team began a three-game roadtrip in the D.C. area with a win Wednesday night by taking down George Washington 69-53. With the victory, the Cats climb back above the .500 mark at 4-3.
UVM led pretty much from the tip in this one, getting contributions from young stars like Ben Shungu to take a 38-28 lead into the break. But former Catamount Maurice Joseph's Colonials rallied in the second, climbing back in to tie the game at 48-48.
That's when UVM made its run: three pointers on four consecutive offensive possessions from Isaiah Moll, Shungu, and Everett Duncan twice allowed Vermont to pull away.
Shungu would finish with 13 while Anthony Lamb led the team with 16.
Vermont will be back in action Friday night at Towson.
