WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) The Woodstock girls tennis team captured a second straight D-2 title with a 5-2 win over top-seeded Harwood Wednesday afternoon in Waterbury.
The Wasps got wins at first and second singles, and followed that up with a win in first singles. Harwood responded with wins at third singles and second doubles, but Woodstock's Katey MacMaster rebounded from a 6-0 first set loss to win fourth singles in a super tiebreak to clinch the crown.
"I just played my own game and tried to get there," MacMaster said. "I knew, no matter what, my teammates would be proud of me. We've worked really hard this year and last year, so it's just really great for use and (our coaches) Tom and Mrs. Biele. We owe a lot to them."
