Big Lots to close stores in our region

BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) - Discount box store Big Lots is closing more than 300 locations nationwide, including several in our region. That’s according to a recent tax filing by the retailer.

Big Lots says its net sales decreased by more than $114 million in the first quarter of this year compared to the same time last year.

Stores currently targeted for closure in our region include Berlin and Rutland in Vermont, Claremont in New Hampshire and Plattsburgh, New York.

Locations Big Lots plans to close are listed as closing on the company’s store finder. Each location that is closing has a 20% off banner on its respective store web page.
