RSV hospitalizations outpace flu and COVID; doctors urge vaccination

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - More people are ending up in some hospitals in our region with RSV than with flu and COVID combined, and doctors are urging eligible groups to get the one-time vaccine to prevent serious complications.
For the week ending Feb. 14, New York recorded approximately 7,500 flu cases, 5,800 RSV cases, and 4,000 COVID-19 cases.
RSV causes pneumonia and particularly impacts infants and older adults.
Health officials say a lack of exposure during the pandemic has left more children vulnerable to spreading the virus.
