Woman arrested and charged with shooting expectant mother, police say
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY/Gray News) - A 24-year-old woman is facing charges after an expectant mother was shot late Friday night, according to jail and court records.
Records identified the suspect as Peyton Kroger. She was charged with aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied building, with the latter charge related to the bullet protruding from a nearby business, police said.
Dothan police said Kroger was identified as a suspect soon afterwards and taken into custody at a Dothan home without further incident.
Police said the pregnant woman suffered a single gunshot wound. She and her unborn child were expected to survive, according to social media posts by the victim’s friends.
Court records show Kroger was out on bond after a stolen property arrest in Dale County last month.
