Neighbors describe deadly cleaver attack

"I was inside the house and I heard a lot of blood-curdling screams," Jane Dwinell said.
Dwinell has lived on Hyde Street in Burlington for a few years. Her house is just a few doors down from where police say a man attacked two women with a cleaver. One woman was killed, the other was critically injured.
"I ran out. I saw the guy in the road, he appeared to have some kind of weapon but I couldn't tell what," Dwinell said.
By the time she got outside, Dwinell says another witness was already on the phone calling for help.
"You could hear the sirens right after she got off the phone," Dwinell said.
She describes Hyde Street as a "funny combination of people."
"Immigrant families, low-income families and college students... rentals. So there's a real mix of people," she said.
Hyde Street is quiet during the day-- usually. But Dwinell says situations like this are not unheard of.
"We had a drive-by shooting here last year which was like, OK, this is a quiet, little street. And we had the big house fire and there is more going on on Hyde Street than you'd expect," Dwinell said.
She said she's glad to see that the police tape has been removed now, so her street looks more like home and less like a crime scene.
